Rhombus Crochet Afghan

rhombus (diamond) crochet afghan with free pattern
I'm so excited to be sharing my rhombus afghan crochet project with you.

I really enjoyed making this crochet project, it worked up nice and fast providing that wonderful gratification a quick project gives you. I didn't keep track of the time I spent on it but I made it up over about a week.

Home Made Hommus Recipe

Making your own Hommus is easy with the simple recipe
I really like dips and one of my favourites is Hommus. However store bought ones are not only expensive but they are bland.

Hommus is super easy to make (or I wouldn't make it) and it's really healthy too which is just a bonus.

Delcuttering Craft Supplies Made Easier

I know I need to make decluttering progress in the sewing room, which as it turns out is much harder for me to do then the rest of the house. I guess it's because I like my sewing goodies more then I like household stuff.

Decluttering the sewing room is harder because so much of the stuff is small useful items that I don't think will make any difference to the overall clutter.

For instance this little box full of cotton and ribbon reels.

Empty reels can be useful but are they mostly just clutter?

Just 5 Things

When I want more stuff gone but I don't have time for a big search and purge I look for just 5 things to add to the donation box (or rubbish / recycling).

My five things:

1) A lovely little hand bag

It was a gift. It is beautiful. It is broken. It could be repaired. I won't be repairing it.
That makes it clutter.

a pretty, but broken, handbag - it's just clutter

Crochet Spiral Beanie

crochet spiral beanie

I found this incredibly soft Cleckheaton superfine wool in black and ox blood. The colours work so well together.

I didn't have a plan for what to make with it, but this yarn was just too beautiful not to buy.

Spotted Turtle Dove
I was playing with the dogs out in the yard this afternoon and the sun was low in the sky when in flew our little spotted turtle dove.

I call her 'our' turtle dove because we had one nest in our mulberry tree a while back (although it could be a he and it could be a different dove altogether).

She is a little shy and doesn't often visit when the dogs are in the back yard, if I'm in the back yard the dogs are there with me, so it's a real treat to see her.

Purfylled Clutch - How Old Is It Really?

Last week I shared the provenance of this clutch as told by my neighbour and I asked you how old you thought this pretty purse really is.

Beaded clutch. Vintage or not?

Focus On The Little Things

Today I am focusing on the little things.

One thing that I've learnt about decluttering is that all the little things do add up.

Even if those little things don't seem like they would make any difference on their own, they make a difference.

You know that saying 'look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'? It's the same with decluttering.

Declutter the little things and the big mess will disappear on it's own.

Focus on the little things and the big ones take care of themselves

Letting go of Perfection

Earlier this week I talked about the urge to make things look nicer that comes from decluttering.

Today I'm going to show you how letting go of perfection really allowed me to take that urge and run with it.
Letting go of perfection improved our floors and purfylled our life.

Beaded Clutch Purse

My lovely neighbour, a dear old lady, gave me this satin beaded clutch purse today. I think it is rather lovely and could be repaired.

I asked her how old it was and she told me it was at least 30 years old. I have a fairly good idea of how old it truly is. When do you think it might have been made?

Two Uses Tuesday 27

With the financial year coming to a close paperwork is on everyone's mind and the creative ways to organise it all just keep coming.

The features this week reflect that at this time of year we're all focusing on the important things, enjoying the garden, eating great food, and taking time to make something special for loved ones (Mum that's you!)

Remember, the last post linked automatically gets featured! Have a gem that's posting Thursday or Friday? Link it up! Two Uses Tuesday is LIVE until Friday at 11pm EST (3am  Saturday UTC).

A Sensation of Being Lighter

Stuff is heavy.

Stuff crammed in here, stuff piled up there, stuff without it's own spot. It all weighs down on you. You don't even realise the weight is there until it's gone.

Keep Calm and Declutter

Making Good - Crochet String Bag

When Agy invited me to join the Making Good Blog Train and share my own repair project I initially planned to work through a bag of clothing items that needed minor repairs, replacing a button, reattaching a cord to tie a closed a cardigan, restitching the underarm on a top where the stitching had given way.
