Horsing Around

In early spring I asked hubby to stop the car so I could snap some photos of some baby animals we saw in a little hobby farm.

I was trying not to startle them when this horse spied me with the camera and came up as quick as you please and shoved his face in the lens.

When snacks were not forthcoming he gave up on me quickly enough.

I wanted to hang around and try for some more shots but Maggie wasn't having any of it and swooped my out of there. I must admit it's a little challenging to frame a shot when that beak is flying at you.

  1. Horses are such regal animals. Love your photos of this great horse and the mean bird, too! :)

    1. I think Maggie was nesting and feeling a little protective.

  3. Hi Stella, lovely pictures of a friendly horse, love the close up of the eye, a mirror to it's soul. Love the bird picture too, looks like you were taking a risk being directly underneath it!

    1. That's an interesting mix, but they need not be exclusive, there used to be Spanish Dancing Horses up the road from us. I can just imagine your little ballerina dancing with her horse =) (Sorry I got a bit carried away there.)

    1. Yeah, I ducked 3 times and then I got outta there! It got my heart racing I can tell you. Maggie didn't seem to want to actually attack me just shoo me off, but I think if I'd hung around any longer an attack would have been eminent. It's not common for them to be aggressive around here but I think the nest was nearby.
