Pleating Froufy

cartridge pleats

Last year my Big Froufy Gown was such a last minute rush I was sewing on the morning of the fair. The skirt waistband was the dodgiest last minute fix. I just stitched ribbon on and relied on the bodice to cover it.

Two Uses Tuesday 73

Two Uses Tuesday Linky Party
Two Uses Tuesday is LIVE until Friday at 11pm EST (3am  Saturday UTC).

Tip of the week

The next quarter of the year starts soon. The past few weeks we laid out some good practices for goal setting and achieving. Today is the best part... rewards!
Don't forget to pat yourself on the back for what you've accomplished. Reaching the goal doesn't have to be the only good thing about the process. Treat yourself along the way (if you are staying on track) and when you succeed! It makes setting that next goal easier knowing you'll get some extra prizes for it

Death Head Buttons

These buttons are the result of my first attempt at making Death Head Buttons. They aren't perfect but they are quite satisfactory for my needs.

Knitters Marking Pins

I can think of many uses for these pins such as blocking your knit project, but marking stitches? I'm not so sure.

Two Uses Tuesday Linky Party
Two Uses Tuesday is LIVE until Friday at 11pm EST (3am  Saturday UTC).

Tip of the week

The past few weeks we've been getting back on track with our 2016 goals. What happens if you're not meeting them?
Don't let your goals, or the process of reaching them, get you down. Success takes time. Break a large goal down into smaller, more manageable ones. Look back to see the progress you've made.
Or, take a break. A clear head and fresh look later may be the renewed energy you need!

Pinbellish 29

Welcome to Pinbellish!

A Pinning Celebration

Shortly after Pinbellish launched, our original 3 grew to 5 hosts. We couldn't have been happier to be joined by Allie and Gina smile emoticon Unfortunately, Allie is unable to continue her co-hosting duties at our little pinning party due to changes with her work commitments. Her craftiness will continue to inspire us over at Crafty Allie.

On other things, it's taking me a little longer to get around to pinning all the pins while my back giving me trouble, but I promise they all get pinned to my boards!

Tip of the week

Tip of the week (personalize the end with your info or leave it off) - Did you set some new 2016 goals last week? Were they SMART?
Studies show that writing your goal down helps you achieve it. And I mean physically writing it on paper. Anything will do. Start a goal notebook where you can keep them all in one place. Put it on a post-it note and stick on the bathroom mirror so you see it everyday.

It's always interesting working from old texts. Sentences are phrased so differently to how we construct them today.

Hat Rescue

Gingham Hat
A few weeks ago we stumbled across an awfully cute little hat on the ground behind a seat bench along our river walk. The walk has a car park at either end and this bench was pretty much at the half way point. It is unusual for walkers with young children to make it that far from either end, as such it was rather a surprise to discover this cute little gingham hat so far along the path.

Pinbellish 27: a pinning celebration

Welcome to Pinbellish!

A Pinning Celebration

We received a great question from one of our Pinbellish party goers asking if you should be re-pinning from Pinterest (an actual re-pin) OR from the blog the pin came from (brand spanking new pin).

With a traditional link-up party, we are always reminded to pin features 'from the source' rather than from the link-up party. This way the pin links back to the bloggers post and not the link-up party post.

Pinbellish is a little different as we link a PIN that has already been shared on Pinterest, and already links back to the correct blog.

Pinterest gives preference to pins that are more frequently re-pinned. This means the more re-pins a pin has the more people will see it in their home feed and in searches.

So, long story longer, at the Pinbellish Pin Party please re-pin the great ideas you find here from Pinterest. No need to actually visit the blog it came from and then pin it, that's why we ask you to link up the pin URL - not your blog post.

Or as I like to pontificate:
At Pinbellish Pin Party please repin pins in Pinterest to promote Pinterest prioritising your pins to purfylle your Pinterest pinning pleasure.

Two Uses Tuesday 69

Two Uses Tuesday Linky Party
Two Uses Tuesday is LIVE until Friday at 11pm EST (3am  Saturday UTC).

Tip of the week

Tips of the Week - For the next month your Two Uses Tuesday tips will be about goals. If you haven't given up on your New Year's resolutions/goals yet, good for you! For those of you who have, let's get down to basics.

Think about your goal. Is it S.M.A.R.T? Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely (or Tangible). Being able to clearly define your goal under these categories will make you more likely to succeed.
