Two Uses Tuesday 97

Two Uses Tuesday Linky Party
Two Uses Tuesday is LIVE until Thursday at 10pm EST (2am  Friday UTC).

Tip of the week

Spend a few minutes, at least once a week, to just watch the good things in your life happen. Observe your loved ones and soak in the moment. Watch the steam dance off the surface of your favourite hot beverage. Take time to immerse yourself in the small things that make you feel good.

Rainbow Lorikeets

Rainbow Lorikeet Pair
I was so engrossed in designing a crochet edging yesterday I completely forgot to share my weekend photo. I hope it was worth the wait.

This gorgeous little parrot is a rainbow lorikeet. They are inquisitive and bold. Most tame birds that escape their aviary will perish in the wild, not these pioneering little rascals, they will happily set up camp and flourish. That is how they came to become Western Australian locals.

Sew...you want to start a sewing group?

Hot tea

This is my third cup of tea in as many hours. I hope I actually get to finish it before it goes cold, unlike the previous ones.

I thought it would be sew simple

(bad pun intended)

It's been a busy week. I've been involved with creating a local sewing and craft group with a few other like minded people.

Thank you to everyone who wished Geri The Wonder Dog a fast recover. She was due to have her stitches out today, but she healed so fast she was able to have them out before the weekend and we got to go on a nice big walk.

Dove Nest

Laughing Turtle Dove

We have a Laughing Turtle Dove nesting in our yard this year. She has chosen an excellent spot with good cover. I say 'she' but this is most likely the male as they generally do the day shift.

The Phases of Life

Ruffles, buttons, ribbons, lace, cord, beads

Life is made up of all these different phases, childhood , eduction, career, family, and each phase has it's own ups and downs.

My life seems to have had more then it's fair share of different phases; in my personal life there have been phases where I was very involved in various community associations, going it alone in a new city, settling down and home making; in my work there was the hospitality phase, then retail, call centres, administration in the health industry and executive assistant work for government agencies.

Through all of the different phases of my life, the ones I've mentioned and the ones I haven't, one thing has remained consistent, my dream to create beautiful historical garments.

Two Uses Tuesday 95

Two Uses Tuesday Linky Party
Two Uses Tuesday is LIVE until Thursday at 10pm EST (2am  Friday UTC).

Geri's surgery went really well and she is already making a nuisance of herself like usual. She is very unimpressed by all the indignities imposed upon her to keep her from wrecking her stitches.  In fact Geri is recovering so well we hope to have her stitches removed before the weekend, instead of next week :O)

Alternative to the Elizabethan Collar

Alternative to the Elizabethan Collar

I wonder what Elizabeth I would think of this medical device being named after her and her fashionable ruff? It certainly looks like you wouldn't be able to scratch yourself while wearing Elizabeth's stylish neck adornment.

Mushroom House

Very decorative fairy roof (aka mushroom top)

We spotted Mushroom House down by the water the other day. It's where the fairy's like to have their fairy dust parties. Remember to tell your little ones not to eat the fairy buildings.

Crochet Mesh Square

Crochet Mesh Square

This little crochet mesh square is worked in no. 8 crochet cotton using a 1.6 mm crochet hook with the centre design based of Eivor's granny square. My intention was for it to be a bowl cover.
