Which Stitch Markers Are Best

When I first took up crochet I didn't have any stitch markers, I didn't even know stitch markers existed. It wasn't long before I knew about them and I learnt the value of using stitch markers, aka stitch savers. That first frustrating experience of when a project accidentally unravels because there's nothing holding onto the stitch to stop it coming undone or your crochet circle grows in ways it isn't supposed to and the worth of this tiny tool became obvious very quickly. But there are so many styles of stitch marker to choose from, locking, circle, coil-less, plastic, safety pins, thread, 3D printed... does it really make a difference which one you use? Is it just how pretty they are? I walk you through a dozen different stitch markers from items you have lying around your home to the fancy artisan styles. I share with you what features to look for and those that don't really hold up to the task.

Two Bags Full

At the end of my post on 50 Litres Of Sewing Clutter my favourite comment was a push for me to get onto more decluttering.

And that's exactly what I've been doing.

Now I won't bore you with the endless details this time. Just a few highlights.

I dumped it all on the couch to show you how I've been going (what's left of it that hasn't hit the rubbish bin that is).

pile of decluttered stuff

This pile includes no less then four bags.

4 bags

Clothes I bought but have never worn.

unworn clothes

Outright junk.

junk including samurai letter opener

A belt that came free with something I bought. I will never wear this belt, it can go.

free belt

A top that I really really wanted, over 20 years ago, but never wore. I briefly flirted with the idea of upcycling it into a bag....then I looked at the 4 bags I'm getting rid of and I decided not to upcycle it after all.

top

The top is sitting on top of yet another UFO from that horrid navy stretch fabric (remember the unfinished pants?) This time it's a jacket, will I never be rid of the stuff?

2 bags full

There was lots of other stuff too. Here's what it looks like once it's all bagged up.

Do you enjoy reading about what I've delcuttered? I don't know, but I'm hoping someone is at least finding it entertaining in a train wreck kind of way, and I also hope that I might inspire you to some of your own decluttering.

Regardless, I share with you the stuff that is happening to purfylle my life right now, today (or at least this week-ish), and decluttering is what is happening in my life at the moment.

Could you fill two bags by decluttering?
