Learn how to create a seam free, single sided Crochet Granny square for perfect results every time.
The humble Granny Square is the crochet staple of Nanna's everywhere, which is how it came to be known as a 'Granny Square'. Originally it was just called a crochet square.
The Granny Square is often the very first thing we are taught when learning to crochet, so it would follow that it would be simple to have a perfect square every time and those new to crochet often get discouraged when this is not the case.
However, to get a perfect square actually requires a bit of experience, good fundamentals and advanced row starting techniques, otherwise you are left with seams, the reverse side of stitches showing every second row or even a slight spiral effect.
This granny square is made without turning your work and has a right and a wrong side.

I totally agree! It's the small things that we tend to overlook and they create the big things! I love being able to clear out broken items or the things I don't use anymore. If they are large enough, I sell them on Craigslist!
ReplyDeleteIt's great when you can get a bit of spare cash for what is just clutter in your home.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI have been decluttering too. It seems to be the thing to do in blog land!!
HUgs,
Deb
I guess bloggers and creative types are a bit prone to clutter, it gives us something to blog about =D
DeleteOh my goodness, I need to read this regularly to remember! I may use that ribbon someday...paper clips are useful (even though I could never use all the ones I have!). So silly!! I hate wasting but it wastes my time dealing with it all. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how much time it wastes! It's so easy to think it will be useful, I'm trying to remember I'd rather spend the time it would take to look after this stuff to be doing other things. You're right, it really is silly of us to hold onto it. Lets give it all to goodwill for someone else to enjoy :o)
DeleteGood challenge... it is easy to hang on to things "just in case".... sometimes that is okay, sometimes not... either way there is so much we should get rid of... and starting with the little things sounds like a good idea. :)
ReplyDeleteIndividually they all seem to be okay to hold onto, it's when it all adds up to whole lot that it's not I suppose.
DeleteThis is something I'm working on as well. I hold on to things "just in case". I have been holding onto a lot of scraps of things, some that are even too small to use.
ReplyDeleteThat's me too. It's crazy and I want to live for now instead of just in case. I've been much better at not holding onto those little scraps of things as I declutter and realise how much time it is taking me to sort through them all. That is time that could be better spent elsewhere.
DeleteAbsolutely! We're moving a lot right now and all of those little things I would normally save just end up taking much-needed car space!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't got much storage in our house and there's just no-where to keep the extra's. It's even harder when your moving. I've actually been asking myself 'what if we moved, would I take this?' as a way to figure out if I should get rid of stuff or not.
DeleteThese are always great to have around. I'm starting a little stash too.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Such crafty things you've got goin' on here, but also such a great reminder for life in general.

What do you mean clutter is not useful?? You are having another fever and fit. Lie down immediately with a cold cloth on your head! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you and all your progress.
WTG!!
I think this may have been the last things I decluttered from the sewing room. I really need to get it together and face in there again, it's almost warm enough to head in there. Perhaps a little lay down first...
