When I first took up crochet I didn't have any stitch markers, I didn't even know stitch markers existed. It wasn't long before I knew about them and I learnt the value of using stitch markers, aka stitch savers. That first frustrating experience of when a project accidentally unravels because there's nothing holding onto the stitch to stop it coming undone or your crochet circle grows in ways it isn't supposed to and the worth of this tiny tool became obvious very quickly. But there are so many styles of stitch marker to choose from, locking, circle, coil-less, plastic, safety pins, thread, 3D printed... does it really make a difference which one you use? Is it just how pretty they are? I walk you through a dozen different stitch markers from items you have lying around your home to the fancy artisan styles. I share with you what features to look for and those that don't really hold up to the task.

Wow what fab shots Stella. The black cockatoos are so beautiful Their feathers look so clear and the red is a wonder to behold.
ReplyDeleteThey were ever so obliging to hang out on the lower branches on our side of the fence. I would have to be very lucky indeed to get better shots then this, but I will keep trying.
DeleteWhat a beautiful bird, great captures
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
They truly are an amazing parrot.
DeleteWow lovely captures! Must have been amazing to watch them
ReplyDeleteIt's mesmerising watching them. I always try to stop what I am doing and go and watch them if I can.
DeleteOh this is wonderful-I love the shot of him holding the berry on the branch, he almost looks as if he’s smiling triumphantly! Great shots
ReplyDeleteI'd swear they can smile! They are very cheeky too. That one with the berry is the female you can tell from the bands in her tail the male is the other one with the plain red tail.
DeleteYou have caught some real performers there!
ReplyDeleteThey are certainly clowns!
DeleteMarvelous captures!

I've been on a bit of a break but I'm trying to get back into the party swing. I'll do my best to make it over this week!
DeleteI cannot believe you have such beautiful birds nearby! Great shots!!
ReplyDeleteI can't either!
DeleteFab photos! What wonderful creatures x
ReplyDeleteA lot of people don't like them because they prune the trees heavily and leave a bit of a mess. I'm just glad I don't have to do the pruning.
DeleteWow! What a cool creature. Never seen one before. Thanks for sharing, your photos are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThey are so big too. Seeing them in person is amazing every time.
DeleteAmazing capture! Their movements are flawless and the feather crown! Beautiful creatures =) #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI love their crest (crown) it makes them look like a punk rocker ;p
DeleteIs it just me that thinks the beakholes look like an extra pair of eyes?! Great captures :)
ReplyDeleteThose nostrils (I'm sure they use a different term for birds but I don't know what it is) are pretty huge.
DeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! These are beautiful! #Mysundayphoto

ReplyDeleteI think I would have hated having to study birds when I was at school but now I think it's brilliant! I certainly hope you all enjoy finding out about them.
DeleteThey certainly put on a show for you, didn't they?
