Learn how to create a seam free, single sided Crochet Granny square for perfect results every time.
The humble Granny Square is the crochet staple of Nanna's everywhere, which is how it came to be known as a 'Granny Square'. Originally it was just called a crochet square.
The Granny Square is often the very first thing we are taught when learning to crochet, so it would follow that it would be simple to have a perfect square every time and those new to crochet often get discouraged when this is not the case.
However, to get a perfect square actually requires a bit of experience, good fundamentals and advanced row starting techniques, otherwise you are left with seams, the reverse side of stitches showing every second row or even a slight spiral effect.
This granny square is made without turning your work and has a right and a wrong side.

Wow, I had to look twice to figure out what it was!
ReplyDeleteI guess black swans are rare enough without seeing them head on like that. ;)
Deletesuch beautiful bird and amazing colour and pattern on the beak
ReplyDeleteBlack swans are just wonderful to watch.
DeleteI am praying my "red-eyed monster" won't show up this week. The other couple who work at the same motel as me have gone on vacation from last night to saturday evening. I am working 18 hour days, and getting less than 6 hours sleep during the day. I will be staying in a room at the motel as my home is a half hour away from where I work, and it isn't worth it to make the trip. My husband will be coming to visit me a couple times, but it will be hard sleeping in a strange bed without my beloved husband beside me
ReplyDeleteGahhh, that does not sound like fun at all. I always find it hard to sleep without my hubby too. I truly hope you get through the week without going bananas.
Deletekind of scary.
ReplyDeletethe swan or me? ;p
DeleteAh! To me, he doesn't quite look like a monster. But, I you do not want to see me in the same pose minutes after waking up. Ja!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I think he looks rather dapper, red eyes and all, but me first thing in the morning after a lack of sleep? Definitely red-eyed-monster material.
DeleteStella, He looks as scary as a monster, all right! Hope you get your computer unquirked real soon!
ReplyDeleteMelinda
Unquirk windows? Hahahaha!
DeleteHe IS rather intimidating, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll come link up at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2015/08/double-play-on-way.html
I wasn't sure if I had linked up or not and had to double check... I had :o)
DeleteWhat a handsome fellow! I'm not scared of him now but you know if he were chasing after me hissing it would be a completely different story 😜
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us again this week for Photo Friday!
I think I'd be a bit worried if he came chasing after me too. The truth is they are actually really used to humans and when they do come up it's to see if you've got food.
DeleteI love seeing these beauties and still find them fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see cygnets but apparently we were a little too early in the season. This lake isn't very close to home so we might not make it back again this year. :/
