When I first took up crochet I didn't have any stitch markers, I didn't even know stitch markers existed. It wasn't long before I knew about them and I learnt the value of using stitch markers, aka stitch savers. That first frustrating experience of when a project accidentally unravels because there's nothing holding onto the stitch to stop it coming undone or your crochet circle grows in ways it isn't supposed to and the worth of this tiny tool became obvious very quickly. But there are so many styles of stitch marker to choose from, locking, circle, coil-less, plastic, safety pins, thread, 3D printed... does it really make a difference which one you use? Is it just how pretty they are? I walk you through a dozen different stitch markers from items you have lying around your home to the fancy artisan styles. I share with you what features to look for and those that don't really hold up to the task.

Horses are such regal animals. Love your photos of this great horse and the mean bird, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI think Maggie was nesting and feeling a little protective.
DeleteWhat a beautiful set of photos from the friendly horse, the last one is my favourite, it looks so pensive
ReplyDeleteHi Stella, lovely pictures of a friendly horse, love the close up of the eye, a mirror to it's soul. Love the bird picture too, looks like you were taking a risk being directly underneath it!

I was a bit worried about maggie pecking me on the head, it got very close a few times.
Deletetotally saluted the magpie then!

ReplyDeleteOh wow stunning especially the eye shot it is just so so stunning x
ReplyDeleteLove it! My horse loving 7 year old will too. She wants to be a horse vet and a ballerina teacher when she grows up. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting mix, but they need not be exclusive, there used to be Spanish Dancing Horses up the road from us. I can just imagine your little ballerina dancing with her horse =) (Sorry I got a bit carried away there.)
DeleteWow these are some really good pictures. The last one is my favorite because it is such a great close up pic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alicia, I rather like the last one too. =)
DeleteGreat pix as always, Stella! You have the "Eye of the Photographer!"
ReplyDeletePerhaps I do, because all I see are the bits that didn't turn out right ;p
Deletewhat a cute fella stella:) maggies are a bit scary. they can really jab you and make you bleed! lovely horsey face.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I ducked 3 times and then I got outta there! It got my heart racing I can tell you. Maggie didn't seem to want to actually attack me just shoo me off, but I think if I'd hung around any longer an attack would have been eminent. It's not common for them to be aggressive around here but I think the nest was nearby.
