It's #FinishItFriday where I share with you a project that needs to be completed.
The goal of Finish It Friday is to make progress toward finishing UFO's (unfinished objects) by working on it today.
Perhaps I'll inspire you to pick up your own UFO and make some progress too!
Entrelac Tunisian Crochet
This week I'm thinking about this
abandoned entrelac project from May last year. I don't have any real plans for it but I'm thinking about it.
Project started:
April or May 2015
Last worked on the project:
May 2015
Still to do:
NB: I made a
second square and I'm still pondering the next step.
Was there progress?
YES! I undid the entire thing and made a rectangle rug.
But I still haven't taken photos. Photos added
Did I enjoy working on it?
YES, for the most part. I was really digging the little round shapes around the edges and I really wanted to make them work for me, and while I did get the to work with the yarn I had by switching the design to a smaller rectangle it took me three goes to get the adaption right and the placement at the ends of the rectangle look a bit strange.
I ran out of yarn just a few stitches shy of finishing the second to last round and I hunted down all the last 4 inch long bits of sheet and stitched them together and made it to the end without any left to spare. I've totally skipped doing the final round and If I were to do it over (which I don't think I will be) I would do a few things a little differently because the gaps are too big for my liking.
Will I continue to work on it?
NO. I don't think so although a part of me wants to have yet another go at perfecting my pattern adaption I think it's best I just move onto other projects for now and call this one finished.
If you've been following along so far then you'll know that's the first completed project for the series!
Verdict:

Final Update on the sheet yarn rug: 2 July 2016
Photos!
For the whole story of the making of the rug you can read about
making the yarn and the first attempt, and the
second attempt before I finally settled on this version. As I said a part of me would still like to tinker with the pattern to get it right but it's time to move on.

Finish It Friday projects.
You undid the whole thing?? Then redid it?? You are my hero!!
ReplyDeleteYes, move on!!
Yes, the whole yarn rug. The round shape just wasn't working out for our floors.
DeleteWowwww - after more than a year - you undid it and made a new rug?!
ReplyDeleteYou must take photos and show us :)
I will try get photos in the next couple of days.
DeleteIs this the blanket we were chatting about? If you should fix it or not? It's lovely. Looks cozy.
ReplyDeleteNo, this is the size of a small cushion but I think I'm out of yarn, very expensive yarn. The one we were chatting about is the blue sampler http://www.purfylle.com/2016/05/tunisian-crochet-sampler-join-finish-it.html
DeleteI did re-do it and I am happier. It should be showing up as a finished project soon.
Congratulations on your finish!
ReplyDeleteThe rug has been super useful all week, I've been able to move it from room to room and my sick sooky dog has been laying on it.
DeleteNice rug! I love that black edging!! What is "sooky"?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise that sooky was an Aussie slang term, and not used elsewhere. It means crybaby essentially. Depending on how the term is used it can be sort of cute like when a 2 year old is hiding behind skirt tails and teary, or it can be more teasing implying someone is behaving like a 2 year old and should grow-up. In this instance I was feeling sorry for my little guy and was aiming more for the 'Awww, poor puppy' side of sooky.
