Ruffler Foot Made Sew Easy It's Hands Free!

If you've ever used a ruffler foot you will know you need to guide your fabric carefully.

I've been making a Victorian Gown. That means lots of ruffley goodness. I have about 150 meters of ribbon I'm using on this project most of which I've been pleating using my sewing machines ruffler foot.
Carefully guiding that much yardage through would drive me insane!

I needed a way to make it easy and fast without needing a lot of concentration.

I needed to automate guiding that ribbon through.

It's so easy and simple and effective I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier.

Australian Coot

Australian Coot with its catch of the day - a biscuit.

On our visit to the lake I spotted this coot proudly running off with it's big catch.

This sequence of shots shows how the coot likes to wash it's biscuits before eating.

Haha! It's my biscuit and I'm not sharing.

I don't know the reason why it does this, perhaps it's too salty, or it likes to soften them for ease of digestion, or it may be purely habitual and washes all of its food.

Coot holding onto its biscuit despite the thieves.

Either way it seems very pleased with its self.

Coot giving its biscuit a thorough washing.

While I watched I saw another bird attempt a fly-by snatch and grab, but it missed. I wish I had caught that on camera!

Coot giving that biscuit one more swish to really make sure it's just perfect.

Coots frontal shield gave rise to the phrase "as bald as a coot", in use as early as 1430.

  1. Wow, I'm particularly taken by the final image. That really demonstrates how the coot likes ot wash its food. Awesome. #MySundayPhoto

  2. Hi Stella, maybe dunking biscuits in the water is on a par to us humans dunking biscuits in tea? I must say that the coot does look very pleased with its 'catch'!

  3. Great set of photos, it really doesn't want to give that biscuit up
